Barcol Impressor GYZJ-934-1Barber-Colman
This Barcol Impressor is a portable Hardness Tester designed for testing of aluminum alloys, lead, brass, copper, laminates, soft metals, hard plastics and fiberglass.
Approximate range for the GYZJ-934-1 Barcol Impressor is 25 to 150 Brinell (10 mm ball, 500 kg load). This unit meets ASTM Standard D2583.
The entire Impressor package comes complete with carrying case, adjusting wrench and two spare indenter points.
The Barcol Impressor meets the following ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards: E140-97; D2583-75; B648-78: E140-97 Standard Hardness Conversion Tables for Metals; D2583-75 Standard Method of Testing for Indentation Hardness of Plastics by means of a Barcol Impressor; B648-78 Standard Method of Testing for Indentation Harness of Aluminum Alloys by means of a Barcol Impressor.
How to use
For accurate readings, material should be at least 1 /32"thick and large enough for a minimum distance of 1/8" in any direction from the indenter point to the edge of the specimen. The testing area should be smooth and free from mechanical damage.
Simply exert a light pressure against the Barcol Impressor to drive the spring-loaded indenter point into the material. The indenter point must be perpendicular to the surface being tested. On very soft metals, the highest reading should be used since cold flow permits the spring loaded indenter point to continue penetration. The hardness reading is instantly indicated on the Barcol's dial.
