Infrared Thermometer (500°C/8:1)
ShimanaMore info
SHIMANA SHSEIR005 is a non-expensive, easy to use infrared thermometer that uses infrared technology to quickly and conveniently measure the surface temperature of objects. It has an emissivity fixed at 0.95 (which will cover 90% of typical applications) and a field of view of 8:1. If the infrared thermometer is 8 inches from the target, the diameter of the object under test must be at least 1 inch. The laser is used for aiming purposes only.

how to use an infrared thermometer
Holding the meter by its handle, point the IR Gun Sensor toward the object whose temperature is to be measured. The meter automatically compensates for temperature deviations from ambient temperature. Keep in mind that it will take 30 min to adjust to wide ambient temperatures. Several minutes are required after a low temperature is measured before a high temperature can be measured. This is a result of the cooling process which must take place for the IR sensor.
Always make sure that the target is larger than the unit's spot size. The smaller the target, the closer you should be to it. When accuracy is critical, make sure the target is at least twice as large as the spot size.
Most (90% of typical applications) organics materials and painted or oxidized surfaces have an emissivity of 0.95 (pre-set in this infrared thermometer). Inaccurate readings will result from measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces. To compensate, cover the surface to be measured with masking tape or flat black paint and allow time for them to reach the same temperature as the material underneath.
NOTE: SHSEIR005 is the direct replacement for Shimana SE-DT-880 ir laser thermometer.
